Bharatanatyam
Bharatanatyam is amongst the oldest of classical dances in India.
A committed dancer, formally trained in the Kalakshetra style of Bharatanatyam for 12 years, I performed my arangetram (solo debut performance) in 2019. Attached are the excerpts from my performance.
Leadership in Dance
As a cultural ambassador at school, introduced Indian culture and dance forms to my international peers.
I enthusiastically led the After School Activities (ASA) as the assistant dance teacher at my school. Furthermore, I choreographed dance performances for the school Discovery Day, Lit Day and participated in school talent shows such as Cabaret. My latest initiative has been to organise a first of its kind Diwali Mela featuring my peers performing to rhythms from across India.
Community outreach through Dance
Colours of Freedom show featuring abandoned girls from the Jeevarachanai Foundation.
Choreographed and led a show of 16 abandoned girls to mark India’s 75th year of Independence. Besides helping improve their confidence, the show was successful in raising Rs 250,000 which contributed towards the girls education fund.
